Spaces

Guys, this was HARD. It’s one of those weeks where I just can’t find any good new Spaces. I must have spent about 5 hours searching for these ones. This is not an efficient use of my time, okay.

 Boo! Loves a hidden laundry.

Yeah, yeah, another Scandinavian kitchen. Rolls eyes off head. But I’m not just posting this because it’s slim pickings today, it’s also because of that countertop. Concrete countertop! Is my enthusiasm real! You’ll never know!

I apologise for the quality of this pic – WordPress is doing something disgusting to my imagery lately. (I’m working on it.) Anyway, I couldn’t not include this, because the rendered wall, raw timber ceiling, black cabinetry and custom peg shelf together totals up to a great kitchen space.

No, it’s not just a ‘tap’. It’s a freaking beautiful freestanding bath spout.

Posting this image was way more of an internal battle than is reasonable. I deleted and re-inserted multiple times. On one hand, I really don’t like this photo, and I don’t necessarily adore the kitchen overall but… gah! That sink and splash-back! It’s like nothing I’ve seen before and I love it. (This one probably should have just gone straight to my Sink Appreciation Tumblr.)

Ferm Living continue to stunt on all these other bitches with their beautiful SS18 lookbook.
This room would be a dream workspace situ – future me is going to work from a lovely table, not a desk.

The sweetest space for a kidlet! And that paint colour… love. The perfect neutral with the teensiest hint of pink – this colour would work equally well in a living room or bedroom. Ok, guys, we got there in the end. Just took a whole day.

Spaces

Like sleeping in the clouds – the art, the white linen, the paper lanterns…

This beautiful new kitchen plays up its building’s history with the olive cabinetry,
dark timber bench-top, brass accents and apron-front sink.

If you thought there were any kinda rules for a gallery wall, you was wrong.

Material Girl – love the tiles, the sneak of sink, the reeded glass, the herringbone floors…

Re-doing a room this year? Well then, may I present – for your consideration (*curtsies*) – this palette: Greige walls, olive linen curtains, a little black for impact, and then layers of white and beige linen to soften and lighten the look.

You can stay here!

Steel factory-style casement windows getting a second life as shower doors.

Another nominee for our ongoing submission to the Itty Bitty Kitchen Committee.

Those stucco arches!

Love the gentle modernity of white-painted brick.

I have burst into flames and drifted into the sky as ashes! This space! Designed by interior architect Leora McMahon of Welcome To Here (Leora, girl you a genius), it’s the Homestead accommodation at Seville Estate, a winery and restaurant in the Yarra Valley, Victoria. There’s a lot more to see of this place too – go check it out over at Est.

Best bath EVER! See more of this home here.

Loves an uneven tile these days.

If you, like me, are in the Venn diagram overlap of Concrete Tub Lovers and Dark Green Wall Fans, this mud room is for you.

Today is a good day! It’s a double amazing-mud-room-with-concrete-tub day!
Also, how good are these terracotta tiles on the floor? Terracotta is very much coming back in tiling.

New Year Spaces!

I’m baaaaaaaaaaack… and boy do I have a goodie for you. This loft apartment, designed by Mira
Eng-Goetz of Jessica Helgerson Interior Design. Don’t just scroll on by in that numb way we sometimes do, either –  this one deserves you to really pause and look at all the details…

Details like those amazing big windows, brick lintels and original timber ceilings that all date back to the very early 1900’s… and is that a piece of contemporary New Zealand design I spy?

Oh my goodness, that sink and countertop! (Side note for kitchen reno’ers: maximising storage in lower cabinets rather than upper cabinets will make your space feel larger)

Oh wow.

Wow, the sequel.

I’m as inspired by the person who lives here as by the home itself – Pam Williams, a 74 year old retired public library director (and widow, who now volunteers with the city’s Art Museum). Clear proof that age doesn’t dictate taste level – I don’t even know you and I have a lady-crush on you, Pam.

I’ve always said I sort of hate wet-room style showers (no shower box), but I’d make an exception for this one –  the tiled bench seat and second hand-held shower head suggest this home owner likes sitting down in the shower, which is a life choice I co-sign.

Cute linen bedhead, cute custom cabinetry, cute sphere handles.

These handsome heritage bathrooms (in this amazing home) caught my eye this week. Details like the bronze tapware, beadboard panelling on the ceiling, and that fatty fat marble countertop with dupont profile edge (delicious!) ramps up the stately feel.

Oh hey – one more thing before you go….
